2What is the difference between 18/0 and 18/10 stainless steel?
Stainless steel is a composite of different steels and varies in terms of grades for different uses. The main ingredient is chromium, and nickel has been added to provide a resistance to corrosion.
Therefore 18/10 means 18% chromium and 10% nickel. The higher the nickel content, the more protection from corrosion. Prices of stainless steel cutlery vary considerably depending on these specs, so don’t be fooled into thinking you are buying the best quality, if the nickel content is 0%.
3)When buying any commercial refrigeration equipment please ensure you buy the correct equipment, do take into account the type of food or drink product you wish to store and display.
4)Please always measure the depth of your door, when you are buying large catering equipment items, as many times customers have ordered goods yet find it does not go through their door.
5When purchasing the equipment always check if parts are ready available for the commercial fridge or commercial pizza oven etc you are buying as you will find good bargains on the internet but during the warranty period if the equipment breaks down, then ask yourself how long is your cabinet out of use before the parts are supplied?
6)Question your catering equipment supplier if the manufacturer or supplier who you have purchased the equipment offers you after sales support? or is it a matter of supplying you the cabinet and after that you are on your own. The number of calls we have had from customers who have bought cheap quality catering products and regretted is astounding.
7)When buying refrigeration epuipment for a hot busy kitchen do not choose a commercial fridge which only works well at 25 C ambient choose a commercial fridge which states it is for hot kitchens, if you don't the fridge will not be able to cope with surrounding conditions and will breakdown.
8)Refrigerated Serve Over counters- If you require a serve over counter and will be displaying fresh meat then do ensure that the temperature range is at 0 to 4C or -1 to 4c. For cakes the temperature should be 4C.
9)Commerical Fridges- Again if you are storing fresh meat please ensure you have choosen the correct temperature range, do not choose the cabinet on price only, your equipment has to comply with food regulations.
10)Gas Installation - So your warranty does not become invalid always ensure that your equipment is installed by a Corgi gas enginner, this is also required by 'law'
11) Pizza ovens- if choosing a electric or gas commercial pizza oven, ensure you have the correct electric supply, and if buying gas, please ensure the oven is installed by a corgi gas enginner as we will need to see the corgi gascertificate if you have taken labour warranty supplied by the manufacturer. Failure to install by the correct procedure will invalidate your warranty
12) Please note manufacturers will only validate the warranty if commercial dishwashers do have water softners installed
13) Please ensure you have taken the correct warranty cover. Commerical warranty covers 24 months parts warranty only and this will be shown under the product description. If you require Labour Warranty this can be added at an extra charge but will only cover you for 12 months
